Not So Fast Mr. I Like To Stalk Selenita! The LAPD Has Their Eye On You!
Just because you were sprung yesterday, doesn't mean you're off the hook.
While there wasn't enough sufficient evidence to keep Selena Gomez' alleged stalker Thomas Brodnicki in jail, the police have a contingency plan in place to make sure the young starlet is safe from this guy. Now that he is "free", the LAPD's Threat Management [...]
He brings up a serious issue faces a lot of people, but hopefully, the right message comes across.
Nick Cannon was druving home from the Google Music Launch party last night, when a cop pulled him over. According to Nick, he was let off with a warning, but the incident prompted him to talk about something that has been on his mind apparently since he was 13.
He his Twitter, he writes:
Just got pulled over again. For the 1st time ever... The Cop let me go! He was a black man! 'Preciate it Brotha!!
Growing up, I never liked Cops. Always felt they were bullies. I guess I shouldn't stereotype...
At age 13 a Cop pulled me over on my bike with his gun drawn. What the hell did he think I was going to do? !
Now in LA I get pulled over like once a week. Honestly, I think it's because I'm a Black man in a nice car. #KnowyourplaceBOY
Racial discrimination amongst law enforcement is nothing new, but is something that we'd hoped that in the year 2011, wouldn't be as common. Ignorance is a really ugly thing and we just wished more people would try to open their minds and hearts to be more accepting of other people.
Sucks that Nick - or anyone of a different race, orientation, etc - ever has to feel like that. Shame.

The Muppets Are Going To The White House
Jason Segel and Kermit the Frog are taking their antics to the 1600 Pennsylvania ave!!
No, this isn't their next movie, though we'd love to see Kermit as president (on screen or in real life). The stars are set to attend a special screening The Muppets, for a group of military families.

"I think people should take Perez Hilton’s lead. He used to be really mean to some celebs on his site PerezHilton.com, but he took it on himself to realize that while he was trying to stop bullying, he was still bullying himself. He did a really great and courageous thing by turning around his entire site and brand to stop bullying. He could have lost a lot of readers by changing his site all the way around, but that proved he was really serious about stopping bullying, and I think he’s a great influence when it comes to that. He took the initiative to stop something even if it could have been at the risk of his own career.”

So bittersweet to see her looking so healthy and happy before her tragic passing.
Although a brief clip of this was presented during her tribute at the MTV Video Music Awards, please check out an extended behind the scenes look of the late Amy Winehouse performing Body & Soul with Tony Bennett, and discussing her history with the song (above)!
Tony Bennett later said:
“What I love about Amy Winehouse is that, of all the singers since the Beatles, you automatically check everyone out who’s a lot younger, but there’s been such a big walk away from jazz. Some people think that anyone could sing jazz, but they can’t. It’s a gift of learning how to syncopate but it’s also a spirit that you’re either born with or you’re not. And Amy was born with that spirit. She was very nervous to perform, but I said, ‘You know, it sounds like you’re influenced by Dinah Washington.’ And all of the sudden, her whole life changed. She said, ‘How did you know that Dinah Washington is my goddess?’ She did some Dinah Washington licks, and from that moment on, she just relaxed. And it came out wonderful. She was like, ‘Tony understands me, you know?’ Jazz is a wonderful art. Listening to it, I compare it to watching the greatest tennis player who’s so intelligent about where he places the ball, it becomes effortless. The great ones that are very talented know just how to turn jazz singing into a performance that’s unforgettable. And Amy had that gift. The fact that she died at 27 years old is just horrible to me. If she had lived, she would’ve been right up there with Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington. It’s just a tragedy.”
It truly, truly is.
But we're so happy to know that she got to perform such a beautiful song with one of her idols. It eases our heartache to see her in this video.
This is exactly how she should be remembered.
May she R.I.P.

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we can see a beautiful shot of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard captured by Peter Mountain.
The two star in The Rum Diary, an upcoming film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's novel, where Johnny stars as a writer for a Puerto Rico newspaper.
The film is set in the 50s. So classic sexpots.
Though the film was shot prior to Pirates 4, he purposely delayed Rum Diary's release, explaining:
You can't open it next to some blockbuster thing. It's a special little film.
We get that. Plus, it leaves on looking forward to something else.
You can bet well be seeing it come October 28!

The Harry Potter Film Box Set Is On The Way
As I mentioned earlier, David and I got to see the new off-Broadway production of Rent here in NYC and as a HUGE Renthead, I was excited and a bit worried about seeing the show. I’ve seen the show well over 30 times so it holds a place dear in my heart. I knew that there would have to be some changes made to the show but my hope was that the spirit and soul of the show would remain intact. Thankfully, yes, the numerous changes to the show did NOT change the emotional impact of the show. While I didn’t love every change, I did enjoy the show overall very much.
The first thing you’ll see that is changed in the show is the staging … the new Rent has an entirely new stage set. Instead of an open area where everything takes place at different levels, this new stage is much smaller (and cramped) with moving pieces that rearrange for different scenes. There is also the incorporation of video into the show … too much, if you ask me. This is the biggest change that I did not love. It’s hard to believe Mark is a starving, struggling artist when he’s carrying around a huge, expensive looking digital camera with a massive (and again, expensive) lens. During Maureen‘s Over the Moon performance, all of the jokes and laughter come from the video projections behind her … rather than from her over-the-top performance style. That said, I get why the video was introduced. They are trying to make a show set in the early 90′s look a bit more modern. There are a lot of costume changes — most prominently, Angel‘s two main costumes. At first, I bristled at the changes but in the end … you kinda have to let go and just enjoy the show for what it is. The actor who plays Angel is THE star of the show. While the other players are good, none of them really stood out for me … the Angel actor, tho, was fantastic. I quite enjoyed the show, even tho I didn’t fall madly in love with it … I guess I’m just too enamored of the original production. That said, I think diehard Rentheads will enjoy this new vision of the show … as I said, just let go of preconceived notions and enjoy it for what it is. David thinks this new production is better than the original (blasphemy, I know) so I’m thinking the new Rent might turn out to be a success.

We wonder if he'll have a solid argument!
Johnny Gill was recently sued by a record producer who claimed that the New Edition star damaged her reputation by writing on Twitter that she leaked one of his songs onto the internet!
However, he's claiming that this is bull shiz, because people shouldn't be allowed to sue over the social networking site!
He claims:
"The courtrooms would be filled with a bunch of Twitter people complaining about things people say every day...It's freedom of speech."
That's true - but if she didn't do it and you published that she did, then that's libel, Sir!

The time to Retire
When men and women are youthful, the phrase retirement just isn't something of considerably concern. It really is twenty or even 30 decades away as well as a lot can take place in the course of that time. The believed of retiring and what to accomplish once the time comes, is actually a dream and with correct planning that may turn out to be a actuality.A long time back, the idea of retirement didn't exist. Men and women worked until the day arrived where they would die. These days are gone now with govt sponsored well being treatment, business positive aspects and insurance coverage firms.Figures show that many people who have attained the age of fifty usually are not in a position to make that dream a truth. To stay away from becoming one from the individuals who have failed in making the dream occur to lifestyle, you should believe smart and save up whilst there's still time.Enjoying it smart and managing costs is among the ways of getting to that objective. Gabrielle Giffords And Husband Writing A Memoir
The only thing many people know about Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is that she was shot in the head during a tragic spree by a horrible man.

Roger Ebert caused a bit of controversy yesterday when he scolded deceased Jackass star Ryan Dunn yesterday via Twitter for allegedly being drunk during the crash that took his life, as well as Zachary Hartwell's, and now, the movie critic has taken to his blog to clarify and somewhat apologize for his insensitivity!
He writes:
"To begin with, I offer my sympathy to Ryan Dunn's family and friends, and to those of Zachary Hartwell, who also died in the crash. I mean that sincerely. It is tragic to lose a loved one. I also regret that my tweet about the event was considered cruel. It was not intended as cruel. It was intended as true. I have no way of knowing if Ryan Dunn was drunk at the time of his death. I don't know what happened in this case, and I was probably too quick to tweet. That was unseemly. I do know that nobody has any business driving on a public highway at 110 mph, as some estimated -- or fast enough, anyway, to leave a highway and fly through 40 yards of trees before crashing. That is especially true if the driver has had three shots and three beers. Two people were killed. What if the car had crashed into another car?"
We certainly understand where Ebert is coming from, and of course, don't support or condone anyone's actions when they are intoxicated and get behind the wheel of a car.
That being said, this is a sad, HOriffic situation all around, and we also don't think it's anyone's business to be pointing the finger of blame right now, especially when so many are devastated with grief.
Everyone knows mistakes were made, and unfortunately, it seems as though Dunn and his friend are paying the ultimate price for his. No need to point out the obvious, just let his family and loved ones mourn and try to make sense out of such a terrible tragedy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you affected right now, and may Ryan and Zachary R.I.P.

New Parents P!nk Carey Hart Bring Newborn Willow Sage Home From The Hospital
For various reasons, our plans for yesterday didn’t really pan out so David and I ended up staying home all day long … which, in retrospect, was really for the best. As a result of all that couch time I had, I finally succumbed and started watching the new HBO series Game of Thrones that seemingly everyone is talking about. I have to admit, at first I thought the series looked a little too much like Xena: Warrior Princess for my liking but after watching the first 8 eps in a row, I’m happy to say I love the show entirely.
Truth be told, I actually fell in love with the series after episode one. Even tho I really had no idea what was going on, I liked the pace and feel of the show. While I love some fantasy fiction, I’m not a huge fan of the genre overall … thankfully, Game of Thrones doesn’t feel so much like a fantasy tale. It kinda feels more like historical fiction. There are a lot of great actors in Game of Thrones with great parts to play. I found it very easy to watch the string of 8 eps in a row without getting tired, bored or confused about anything. I am really intrigued by where the story seems to be going and I found myself dying for another ep after I finished the newest, 8th episode. If the show sounds interesting to you, I suggest you check out the premiere ep. That ep will give you a good taste for the show and you’ll prolly know right off if Game of Thrones is for you. I got hooked, you may get hooked too.
So yeah … that was my Sunday. Today, David and I will be trekking down to Anaheim, CA to spend the evening/night celebrating Ollie’s birthday at Disneyland. I’m ashamed to admit that it’s been far too long since I’ve been to Disney so I’m excited. The weather is cooler today … hopefully that will make for a really pleasant day at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Its Official! Nicole Scherzinger Replaces Cheryl Cole As Judge On The X Factor
Chris Hemsworth, the hunky Aussie actor who portrays Thor the God of Thunder in the superhero film of the same name, ventured out to Long Beach, CA this weekend to take in some sun and surf … which turned out to be a blessing to anyone with eyes. Hemsworth decked himself out in a rubber wetsuit, which he half-peeled off his massive body … which you can enjoy seeing below.
Oh yes, producers chose well when they cast Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. He deffo has the physique to make a believer out of anyone. Whew! I mean … yeah. Summer is just getting warmed up so here’s hoping this weekend’s beach outing is only the first of many of these types of surfing excursions. Ain’t Summer just the best time of the year? Le sigh.

Brooklyn Beckham Puts The Moves On A Young Girl
I after falling in LOVE with X-Men: First Class yesterday evening, I made my way out to The Roxy on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, CA to see KidneyThieves in concert. Back in my goth/industrial phase, I was a big fan of the band’s debut album Trickster. Their song Feathers is still one of my all-time fave songs from my club days. I had never seen the band live before so, last night was my first chance to do so.
All in all the show was pretty good … but I did learn that I am not the same person that I was back in 1998. While I still love all that industrial dance/goth pop music, I think I’m far too old for the scene anymore. All the kids were still wearing fishnetting, electrical tape and pleather clothing … which made me feel totally out of place. Yes, I used to rock that same stuff in my youth but I don’t any longer. I think it’s awesome that the scene is still going strong and a new generation of industrial goths are flourishing. As for the show, KidneyThieves put on a great concert … but I was totally bummed out that they didn’t play Feathers ;( The show was kinda short but I honestly didn’t mind. They didn’t take the stage until 11pm and my old ass didn’t need to be out at all hours of the night ;) ‘Twas a fun show, I’m glad I went.
Tonight, David and I are planning to head downtown to help our dear friend Eileen celebrate her birthday today! That should be a blast. Happy Saturday.
